Silvio was born in Germany and emigrated to Australia in 1951.
He is based in Balhannah in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia and has been sculpting for over 40 years.
Using a variety of media including wood, granites, marbles and bronze his sculptures range from delicate 'Netsuke' style pieces with an astonishing level of detail and realism to large public works.
Silvio has had one-man shows and group exhibitions locally, interstate and overseas. He has won several prizes, accepted commissions, attended symposiums in Australia and internationally. His work is featured in many private collections both here and overseas and in public spaces across Australia.
"I was inspired by the bright shiny helmets of the Peloton – bicycles which passed with a 'whoosh'."
Silvio's vision to 'enrich the Hills with Sculpture' was the genesis of the Adelaide Hills International Sculpture Symposium. He was Artistic Director for the Symposiums in 2012, 2014 and 2016.
