Born in Miyakonojo, Japan and now living in Carrara, Italy, Yoshin is a gentle and very focused artist.
Following his first exhibition of sculptures at the Shinseisaku-Kyokai, Tokyo In 1970, he moved to London and studied at the British Museum.
After travelling in Europe he arrived in Italy in late 1971 where he studied sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan, Florence and Rome. In 1973 he moved to Carrara to make contact with the world of marble.
In an outstanding career spanning over 40 years, Yoshin Ogata has held regular solo exhibitions internationally, won first prizes in numerous monumental sculpture awards and participated in many international symposiums.
He sculpts mostly abstract forms with aquatic themes and often large stone pieces for public installation. His works can be found in important international private and public collections.
